Kinney Group West Michigan Earth Team

About the Earth Team

High School students, ages 15 to 19, from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, are brought together to make a difference. The team members maintain one of the largest urban gardens in downtown Indianapolis. The vegetables produced are then handed out to those less fortunate in our city.

Team members also fully maintain a quarter mile stretch of flowers beds along the White River State Park. The members participate in the removal, and creating artistic murals over of graffiti and tagging of inner city bridges, abandon building walls, and the like.

Earth Team Mission

“From seed to harvest, as a team we strive for a healthier and cleaner community for all.” We are a team with a full set of complementary skills required to complete a task, job, or project.

A team becomes more than just a collection of people when a strong sense of mutual commitment creates synergy, thus generating performance greater than the sum of the performance of its individual members.

Earth Team Behavior

Our Earth Team behaves in the following ways:

  • Operate with a high degree of interdependence.
  • Share responsibility for self-management.
  • Are accountable for the collective performance of everyone.
  • Works towards a common goal and shared rewards.
